SAP Salaries and Contract Rates by Module: What Employers Are Posting in October 2026
S4 Contracts Research · Oct 14, 2026
Posted pay ranges from 313 live SAP job listings, module by module: which skills command the highest salaries, where hourly contract rates sit, and how to read a posted range.
Most SAP pay guides are built from surveys or from what recruiters say in conversation. This one is built from the numbers employers put in writing. Of the 457 SAP roles live on S4 Contracts this week, 313 state a pay range in the posting itself, because pay-transparency laws in states like California, Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington now require it. Below is what those ranges say, module by module.
Two rules we apply throughout. First, salaries and hourly contract rates are reported separately; we never convert one into the other, because a $150K salary and a $75/hr W2 contract are not the same offer once benefits, bench time and overhead are counted. Second, a "typical range" is the median low end to the median high end across postings, so one unusually wide band at a large consultancy does not drag everything with it.
The headline numbers
Across all modules, posted salary ranges typically run $113K to $218K, and hourly contract postings cluster around $70–$72/hr. The salary figure is dominated by consulting firms, whose posted bands are deliberately wide (an Accenture or Deloitte posting often spans $85K to $250K to cover several levels). The hourly figure comes from a smaller set of W2 contract listings, mostly through staffing firms such as Experis, Randstad and TEKsystems.
Modules ranked by posted salary midpoint
- Program & Project Management – $143K–$277K posted, midpoint around $212K. Program leads on S/4HANA transformations are the best-paid non-architect role on the board, and there are 57 of them open.
- Asset Management (PM/EAM) – $146K–$240K, midpoint $196K. A small market (9 postings) but a specialist one: utilities, oil and gas and manufacturers paying for people who know both the module and the plant floor.
- Solution Architecture – $131K–$260K, midpoint $187K, and hourly contracts at $90–$110/hr. With 130 open roles it is also the largest category by far. We look at it separately below.
- Sales & Distribution (SD) – $116K–$231K, midpoint $187K; hourly $63–$70/hr.
- Transportation Management (TM) – $80K–$294K, midpoint $187K. Only five postings, so treat the band as a hint rather than a benchmark.
- Production Planning (PP) – $102K–$219K, midpoint $176K; hourly $52–$56/hr.
- SuccessFactors & HCM – $116K–$266K, midpoint $173K.
- Finance (FI/CO) – $116K–$218K, midpoint $169K; hourly $65–$75/hr. The deepest pool of pay data on the board (60 postings) and the most consistent.
- Master Data Governance (MDG) – $111K–$218K, midpoint $165K.
- S/4HANA Finance – $120K–$206K, midpoint $161K.
- Data Migration – $100K–$206K, midpoint $160K.
- Materials Management (MM) – $103K–$204K, midpoint $158K.
- Integrated Business Planning (IBP) – $103K–$213K, midpoint $158K.
- Security & GRC – $113K–$198K, midpoint $154K.
- ABAP & Fiori Development – $126K–$206K, midpoint $153K; hourly $80–$85/hr.
- Analytics & BW/4HANA – $98K–$182K, midpoint $151K.
- Warehouse Management (EWM) – $86K–$212K, midpoint $150K; hourly around $70/hr.
- BTP & Integration – $97K–$190K, midpoint $145K; hourly $85–$90/hr.
- Basis & HANA Administration – $112K–$168K, midpoint $145K; hourly around $50/hr.
What the hourly numbers really say
The hourly figures above are lower than the rates experienced SAP contractors quote each other, and the gap is explained by who posts them. Hourly rates on employer career sites and staffing-firm boards are almost all W2 contract positions, where the employer or agency carries payroll taxes, benefits and sometimes PTO. Corp-to-corp rates, which are rarely written into a public posting, run higher because the contractor carries all of that. If you are quoting C2C, the posted W2 figure is a floor, not a target. Our guide to the difference between the three contract types covers the arithmetic.
Two modules stand out on the hourly side. BTP & Integration at $85–$90/hr and ABAP & Fiori at $80–$85/hr are the only technical categories where posted hourly rates approach the architect band, which matches what we see in demand: clean-core extension work and Fiori modernization are where the ECC-to-S/4HANA programs are short of hands. Basis at $50/hr is the opposite story; routine administration is increasingly delivered by managed-service providers, and the posted rates reflect that.
How to read a posted range
A few habits make these numbers useful rather than misleading.
- Ask where in the band the role actually sits. Consulting firms post one band across multiple levels. A senior consultant role posted at $95K–$220K will, in practice, land in the middle third. Ask the recruiter which level the requisition was approved at.
- Compare midpoints, not maximums. The top of a band is reserved for internal transfers and exceptional cases. The midpoint is the number the hiring manager budgeted.
- Location adjusts the band. Many employers maintain geographic tiers. A posting that lists "United States" with a wide range will pay the lower part of it in Dallas and the upper part in the Bay Area or New York.
- Hourly postings usually include the duration. A 6-month W2 contract at $75/hr is roughly $78K of gross income with no guarantee of renewal; weigh that against a $150K salary with benefits before concluding which is "more".
Where this data comes from
Every figure above is drawn from live listings collected from employers' own career sites and from staffing firms that publish structured job data. Nothing is estimated. We refresh the listings every three hours and recompute the benchmarks nightly, and the per-module pages under Rates on this site show the current numbers along with breakdowns by contract type and state. Modules with fewer than five postings stating pay are shown but flagged as limited data.
If you are an employer benchmarking an offer, the practical takeaway is simple: in October 2026, a credible posted range for an experienced functional consultant starts above $115K, an architect posting that tops out below $200K will be ignored by the people you want, and any hourly W2 rate under $65 for a senior functional role will not get applications from candidates who are currently working.
